Where We Began
Changing Minds was founded by clinical psychologists Andy and James in 2007 in response to a pressing problem.
The traditional, rigid model of psychology that focuses on the individual in isolation can limit the influence of context and result in short-term or ‘sticking-plaster’ solutions, and with them, unmet needs.
Andy and James pioneered a more flexible option that extends beyond the individual and considers their wider context. By embedding and empowering psychological thinking and practice more broadly across an organisation, more deep rooted outcomes can be achieved.
Our ‘secret’ is not to focus on just wellbeing or performance – but both. The results speak for themselves.
Our early work focused on high-performance and high-challenge settings, including youth mental health in the British criminal justice system. Over time, we’ve grown into the Changing Minds Performance Services (known as Changing Minds) and Child & Family Services (CAFS).
HOW WE’RE EVOLVING
Today, Changing Minds is a world-leading provider of elite sport and business psychology, consistently delivering sustained high-performance across industries.
Our impact is recognised globally as a mark of quality. From supporting World Cup-winning teams and Premier League football clubs to contributing to Great Place to Work (GPTW) business initiatives, our innovative work is reshaping cultures, improving leadership, and setting new benchmarks for performance.
We’re still growing too; expanding into new markets, collaborating with leading research institutions like Bangor University and pushing the boundaries of clinical and performance psychology.
Our approach encourages self-sufficiency, enabling organisations to navigate challenges more independently, and limiting burnout.
Our mission
Our mission is to help you be your best, consistently and confidently.
Not just for a moment, but for a lifetime.
Courage
Curiosity
Compassion
Our Values
Three core values drive everything we do:
Courage
We approach complex challenges in creative new ways and we don’t shy away from doing things differently. We break new ground, ask difficult questions, and avoid conventional ‘quick fix’ thinking to create lasting change.
Curiosity
We never stop learning. Our work is rooted in robust assessment, active research, fresh perspectives, and a relentless pursuit of better ways to drive high-performance and wellbeing.
Compassion
We believe everyone is doing the best they can in any given moment, and can also do better. So we co-create environments in which people feel empowered to explore, evolve and thrive.
